Lee County government reported Monday that 130 new COVID-19 cases had been confirmed since Oct. 12, a surge that brought the total number of residents who have tested positive to 1,954.

Active cases continue to rise as well, with 258 patients still being monitored – up from 178 two weeks ago and 227 the week prior. 1,680 of those diagnosed have recovered, and there have been 16 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Lee County.

The Health Department doesn’t release information about individuals who have tested positive, but the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID dashboard does provide some demographic information.

According to the dashboard, Lee County’s rolling seven day average for new cases is 17.57 – up from 14.29 a week ago – and the percent positive rate is 6.7. That number increased from 6.5 on Oct. 12.
