On the heels of Gov. Roy Cooper’s announcement Friday to rescind the state’s mask order, Sanford Mayor Chet Mann also rescinded the city’s order that’s been in effect since Nov. 25.
Cooper’s Executive Order 215 acts on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that states vaccinated people can assemble without face coverings, except in settings like schools and health care facilities. Mass gathering limits and social distancing requirements have also been lifted.
The state health department still recommends masks and social distancing for those who have not been vaccinated.
Local businesses like Hugger Mugger Brewing have announced policy changes. The downtown brewery said guests may now choose to wear a mask if they wish, and seating at the front bar will now be open. Employees there may still choose to wear a mask.
Also this week, the county health department announced it is now registering children age 12-15 with parental consent to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The change comes as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use in children 12 and up.
Parents interested in registering their children for the COVID-19 vaccine are asked to submit a pre-registration form available online at leecountync.gov/covid19.
Once a pre-registration form and parental consent form are submitted, staff will contact the individual to complete the registration process and assign the individual to the next available vaccine clinic or appointment. Parents must accompany the minor to the vaccination appointment and proof of age will be required.
Kids don’t need the vaccination. Mask are horrible and kids shouldn’t be forced to wear them.
Yeah, that explains why there are a large number of entire classrooms having to go into quarantine in our school system.

The disposable types are readily available now. You can buy 100 masks for under $10.00. No excuse to wear a dirty mask, unless you’re just a dirty person.

But it’s gonna get dirty. 79 of 60,000 people died with or from the wuhan virus in Lee County. You have a 99.99999 chance of survival. But go ahead and be afraid. You really don’t understand how this works. You can’t say that only 79 out of the roughly 60,000 Lee county residents have died from Covid19 gives you a 99.99999 chance of survival. The math on those numbers gives you 99.868333 chance. You are falsely claiming the total population (most have been wearing masks and social distancing). To get the survival rate, you use deaths versus infections. There have been 6026 confirmed cases. 79 have died so far. That gives you 98.689 chance of survival, or simply put, for every 70 people who catch the virus, 1 dies. It’s not a matter of fear, it’s a respect for the actual abilities of the virus. In all honesty, if it were not for the vulnerable innocents that you cry babies would kill, I’d be fine if all of you caught it and died at this point. No sympathy for ignorance after a year.

There is no such thing as 100% safety. There are much greater threats to peoples safety in Lee county than COVID 19. You have about a 1% chance of catching COVID and dying from it in Lee county. There is a 33% chance of being killed in a car accident. You are at greater risk of being a victim of violent crime in Lee county than catching COVID 19 and dying. As for children in school, they are at greater risk of being bullied, harassed and victim of physical assault in the schools also. I would argue that is also a threat to the community yet that hasn’t been solved. If you are vaccinated then you have nothing to worry about from someone who isn’t, unless you are going to admit the vaccine doesn’t work. Do we need to ensure the vulnerable are protected? YES. That doesn’t require the entire county to walk with masks wherever they go. Also forcing children to get a vaccine that is not FDA approved when they are the least likely to catch, spread, or die from COVID-19 is ridiculous. There are people that need the vaccine more than others. If you don’t have medical conditions that cause complications with COVID-19 then you are not a priority for the vaccine. Just because someone doesn’t get the vaccine does not mean they are some pariah to society. If you are healthy and have no medical conditions then you are a low risk and can wait. People need to think about a few things. Pharmaceutical companies don’t make money from cures, they make money from treatments. It is not in their best interest to cure anyone. They are making billions right now. The very government that you are trusting with your very lives and rushing to inject a vaccine that is not FDA approved is the same government that provided funding to the Lab in Wuhan that created this virus. You all can love Dr. Fauci all you want, but he is the person that gave the funding to Wuhan. This isn’t conspiracy, it is a fact. Our Tax dollars paid for this crap. Yet we are supposed to trust the very people that funded this to now have the answer to save us? People are acting like they are going to die if they don’t wear a mask and get the vaccine. Wake up people, you are willingly allowing yourself to be injected with an experimental vaccine and signing away you rights to recourse if it messes you up. You have no rights if these vaccines turn out to cause permanent damage. Be very careful with what you inject in your body, because once it is in you, there is no going back and there is nothing you can do about it. If you do some research you will find medical white papers from 2019 where the pharmaceutical companies were saying they were decades away from creating these types of vaccines, then 2020 hit and they developed them in 8 months. Science doesn’t work that quick, these Vaccines are medical experiments on a massive scale.I pray they turn out to be everything the doctors say they are, but I don’t trust them enough to risk it if I don’t have to. I am quite sure someone is going to blast me for writing this, that is fine. Do your own research and do what is best for you. I will do what is best for me. Having said all of that. Be safe, wash your hands, get exercise, eat healthy, and eat take your vitamins. The best defense for an illness is to get yourself healthy.
