Sherry Lynn Womack, the Republican member of the Lee County Board of Education who had declared her candidacy for vice chair of the North Carolina Republican Party in April, lost that race at the state party’s convention in Greenville on Saturday.
Details about the vote were scarce Saturday afternoon, but some activity on Twitter indicated that the race was close.

Womack lost the race to Susan Mills, a co-founder of the Women for Trump PAC. A tweet by the PAC didn’t reference Womack directly, but said state Republicans should support Mills because there was “no sideshow involved,” and noted that Mills “didn’t seek the spotlight, fanfare or the need to see her name in lights.”

It looks like it is time for Lee County to get new GOP leadership. The mindset of any news coverage is good news coverage is flawed logic. There is no question in the sacrifices and patriotism of the Womack family. They both served our nation in peace and war. Lee County needs leadership that reflects the GOP core principles, and conservatism. We need the GOP to actually engage with the citizens of Lee County and talk. Find out what are the concerns of the people and provide solutions. There is too much drama surrounding the Womacks, to the point it looks like they seek it, just to keep their names in the media. I have looked at the GOP website and there is absolutely NO events scheduled for months. How can conservatives spread the message that they have the best solutions for problems when they aren’t out talking to people. How do you know what the problems are if you are not out talking to people? When the people of Lee County only see drama after drama in the news concerning the GOP leadership in our county then all they know is the Lee County GOP is full of drama and not solutions. I have read the Mission Statement on the Lee County GOP website and it still talks about Trump and our Judeo-Christian values. News flash! Trump is not the POTUS anymore and there is more than Christians and Jewish members of the Republican Party. Trump had great ideas for the country and those are what should be focused on, not the man. As for the Judeo-Christian values IMHO it alienates members of other faiths as not being welcome in the Republican Party or the conservative movement which isn’t true. All are welcome! If we are to spread the word of conservatism, Constitutionalism, liberty, and freedom then you must show that there is room at the table for all. The first right of the Constitution is Freedom of Religion, as a Conservative i may not share your faith, I do share you right to have that faith. This is what it means to be a Conservative. In a free republic we may not share the same faith, color, gender, gender identity, or even views on LGBTQ issues. What we do share is we all have the right to our own lives and how we live them within the confines of the law. We recognize that we are a Constitutional republic, not a democracy. In a Democracy the mob decides how you live, in a Constitutional Republic the individual has rights and power that can’t be taken away without due process. This is what the people of Lee County needs to know about the GOP, not negative press every other week because instead of planning informational community events, our party is actively seeking out political garbage on political opponents. We can’t win a race to the top while running in a race to the gutter. We need leadership that provides real Conservative solutions to Lee County problems and articulate those solutions to the people so they can be informed. Not all solutions are easy or painless, people understand this. We need to get rid of the corruption in Lee county not become part of it.

If you must know, Sherry won the popular vote. However, as was pointed out not one democrat voted for her but that may not be true as the independent states of Wake and Mecklenburg were just too powerful for her to overcome with 25 weighted points of approximately 8,000.
I sit back from afar and watch the Womacks. I onder if they seek the spotlight or are they for true conservative values. I believe the latter. What is funny as I read all the comments of hate about these two great Americans, I never see any of you all step out from behind the safety of your computers and step into the ring. Do you know why? Because while it seems to you like the Womacks seek attention they actually seek the virtuous values of our Constitution. You all could never hand the burden of public scrutiny from the the likes of you feeble-minded imps.
