(Update): A representative of Mack Attack Play Place in Carthage reached out via email to confirm their connection to the project, and that the name of the facility will be PlayEscape.
(Original story): City and county planning officials have issued permits allowing for what appears to be a family entertainment center on South Horner Boulevard.
The Sanford-Lee County Planning Department issued a change of use permit in June for a 3,000 square foot building at 1946 S. Horner Blvd., which until recently was the location of Badcock Furniture. The permit description allows the applicant to “convert old Badcock space into an indoor family entertainment location including play structure, arcade and miniature golf.”
“Mack Attack Play Place” is listed on the permit under “proposed occupancy type.”
A second permit issued in October and valid through April allows the applicant to “demo old Badcock display walls and customer service desks. Install sink at rear of unit to tie into existing restroom in-wall drain and use water service from that same location. Add 240v circuit for warming oven in rear of unit. Install (miscellaneous) outlets for wall mount TVs and arcade games. Install partition walls to close off two existing rooms.”
