Lee County Register of Deeds Pamela Britt has announced her retirement.
Britt, a Democrat, was first elected in 2016 and was re-elected without opposition in 2020 and 2024. Her retirement is effective on January 1.
The Lee County Democratic Party will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Lee County Courthouse to choose someone to fill the remainder of Britt’s term. According to an email from the LCDP, the meeting is open to the public, but only members of the county party’s executive committee are able to vote.
Nominees must live in Lee County and be registered Democratic. The Lee County Register of Deeds seat is up for election next in 2028.

Ms. Britt has been an outstanding Register of Deeds. She served during a time of great transition and has handled unprecedented growth in property transactions. I thank her for her years of impeccable service and for representing Lee County so well to others across the state.
Nothing but positive experiences with the ROD office. The online interface could be a bit more clear but when I couldn’t figure it out a stop at the office always resulted in my enlightenment. There is a ti=me for everyone to retire from public service. It is nice to go out on your own terms.
