The Mr. Gatti’s pizza buffet which opened in July has closed after less than a year in business, according to a sign posted on the restaurant’s window earlier this week.
Gatti’s had a Sanford location in the 1980s and 90s, but closed down around the turn of the century. Sanford native Matt Oborne told The Rant in 2024 that he wanted to bring the franchise back to town because of the warm memories many locals had of eating there in past decades.
“Mr. Gatti’s just has a such a great reputation in this community,” he said. “They created something years and years ago that so many people still remember and relate to.”
The restaurant, located in the Shoppes at Sanford strip mall on South Horner Boulevard anchored by Walmart, opened in July 2025.
