Hope you like golf … because The Rant is very interested in what’s coming to our neck of the woods in June.

The USGA announced this morning that Carolina Trace will again host a sectional qualifying tournament for the U.S. Women’s Open in Pinehurst. Trace’s Lakes Course will host for the sixth consecutive year on May 29 as one of 24 qualifying sites throughout the U.S. The Open will take place three weeks later at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 2 on June 19-22.

Of course, sandwiched in between will be the men’s Open, June 12-15.

The tournaments will have an impact on Lee County in that Pinehurst and the surrounding area won’t be able to contain all the fans coming in. Local hotels are already at or near capacity.

Tickets for the championships can be purchased at www.usga.org/TicketsFunnel.aspx?ID=21474854488. Tickets for the men’s open run from $120 on Thursday or Friday and $135 on Saturday or Sunday to $425 for all four days. Daily tickets for the women’s Open range from $30-$50, and four-day tickets are $125-$175.
