The more important story here is that R.V. Hight — a man who’s put more blood, sweat and tears into the Sanford Herald than anyone over the past 35 years — is stepping down to work full-time for Central Carolina Community College.
But we’ll get to more on that on another day.
The Sanford Herald is looking for a new editor. This job description was posted on the North Carolina Press Association Job Bank on Wednesday:
Editor (9/3)
The Sanford Herald, winner in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 of the first place award for General Excellence among small dailies in North Carolina, is seeking an editor. We serve four counties in Central North Carolina with an emphasis on our print product, promoted by our online and social media presence. The candidate we seek will have a track record of newsroom leadership and management excellence with a commitment to timely, relevant and compelling news gathering, reporting and story telling. Our mission to our community is to inform, challenge and celebrate, so we seek an editor to guide the newsroom to fulfill that mission on a consistent basis. The Herald has been serving the Heart of Carolina since 1930 and is part of Paxton Media Group. Please send introductory letter, resume, references, salary history and work samples to Bill Horner III, Publisher.
So long, and good luck, RV. We’re excited to see who’s next.
