Cowboy Wilkins (first name actually “Mark”), owner of Cowboy Auto Wash in Dunn, will face off against incumbent Oscar Harris. “I really think I can make a difference and I feel like I can help people,” The Daily Record quoted Wilkins on its Facebook page today. “That’s why I decided to put my name out there.”

Cowboy was the subject of an investigation by ABC11 in Raleigh in 2014 when his previous business, Cowboy Limo, was accused of “ripping people off” by providing SUV’s for events like prom instead of promised limousines. According to the report, Cowboy Limo was ordered to cease operation by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration after its investigation into three violations of “failing to implement a drug/alcohol testing program, not having proper insurance and doing business across state lines without authority.” The business was fined more than $40,000.

The response in the Facebook comments section for today’s announcement are enjoyable. Good luck, Cowboy.
