Sanford City Councilman Charles Taylor was ticketed Monday for passing a stopped school bus, the Rant has learned.
The alleged offense occurred in Johnston County, and Taylor’s ticket was issued by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Failing to stop for a stopped school bus is a Class 1 misdemeanor, the second-highest category of misdemeanor in North Carolina. If found guilty, Taylor faces a minimum fine of $500 and 5 points on his driver’s license.
Taylor, a three term Republican who represents Ward 2 of Sanford, is due in Smithfield for court on May 16. He did not answer a call seeking comment Tuesday afternoon.
