Sanford resident Allison Podlogar, who has performed on stages across central North Carolina, will appear at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 1 as part of the Camp Broadway Kids, a 60-member youth musical theatre ensemble.

She is one of just four ensemble members from North Carolina.

Podlogar, 14, has been acting since 2011, when she got her start as “Small Alice” in the Temple Theatre’s Summer Conservatory production of Alice in Wonderland. Since then, she’s returned to the Temple multiple times (A Christmas Carol, As You Like It, The Tempest) and also appeared in productions with other professional and semi-professional organizations such as the Judson Theatre Company in Pinehurst (To Kill a Mockingbird), Fayetteville’s Gilbert Theatre (The Secret Garden), the Raleigh Little Theatre (Rutherford Wolf), and the North Carolina Symphony (The Music Man).

An eighth grader at SanLee Middle School, she can be seen around the 25 second mark in this video from the Gilbert Theatre’s 2017 production of The Secret Garden:

According to a press release from Camp Broadway, Podlogar was one of more than 500 kids nationwide who auditioned for a spot. The May 1 performance is part of the New York Pops 34th Birthday Gala which will also feature contributions from Matthew Broderick, Brian D’Arcy James, Steven Pasquale, and several others. It is the “culmination of a 3-day rehearsal featuring master classes in vocal performance, dancing and acting under the direction Camp Broadway’s creative team.”

Congratulations to Allison!
