If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you might want to consider entering the city’s street banner design contest.
So, yeah. Downtown is getting new street banners – those things that hang off the light poles in downtown districts wherever you go – and in this case the designs are being left to the public. Prizes will be awarded for first ($300), second ($200) and third ($100) places.
Entrants should be at least 14 years old and live in “the Sanford area,” which contest materials define as Lee, Chatham, Harnett, and Moore counties. Entries, which should include a narrative description and be in 11″ by 17″ format, may be submitted by July 24 to Liz Whitmore at 115 Chatham Street.
Artists can submit more than one entry, and are encouraged to focus on a variety of themes – contest materials suggest topics ranging from aspects of Sanford’s history to current activities like the arts, shopping and dining.
For more information, contact Whitmore at (919) 718-4657 ext. 5393 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
