A young man and woman — 27-year-old Bryant James Rosser of Spring Lake and 24-year-old Sanford native Kelcie Lyn Vann — were found dead in the front seat of Vann’s bullet-riddled car on a dirt path near Buffalo Lakes and Twin Pond roads on the Harnett County side of Sanford Monday.
Both Rosser and Vann were graduates of Lee County High School, and according to his Facebook page, Rosser was a former student at Central Carolina Community College, where he studied computer engineering.
The Crime Scene
According to several published reports, Vann’s gray 2001 Toyota Camry was discovered around 3 p.m. Monday on a sandy path off of Buffalo Lakes Road, across from the Lakes County convenience store. The person then asked an employee of the store to call 9-1-1 to report a double homicide. According to the Dunn Daily Record, the caller reported a man and a woman in a vehicle with blood on its windshield and bullet holes all over the hood and doors. The Record reports that a neighbor said he and his wife heard 12 gun shots around 7 p.m. the night before [Sunday].
“We can confirm that multiple gunshots were fired at [the] victim’s vehicle. It also appears that both victims sustained gunshot wounds while … inside the vehicle,” Maj. Jeff Huber said in an email, according to WNCN and the Fayetteville Observer.
The Investigation
The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said the bodies of Rosser and Vann have been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing. As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly announced.
The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to call (910) 893-9111 or the tipline at (910) 893-0300.

The Victims
Rosser and Vann appear together in Facebook photos tagged to their pages on July 6 with the captions “real recognizes real” and “ride or die since day 1.”
Friends of both shared their grief on Rosser’s public Facebook page Monday (Vann’s page, under the name Kelcie Mae, is mostly private).
