Homes at (clockwise, from upper left) 314 S. 3rd St., 309 Maple Ave., and 2226 Buchanan St., will be demolished.

Declaring them “a hazard and a threat,” the Sanford City Council voted Tuesday night to demolish three dilapidated homes – two in east Sanford and one in Jonesboro – which had previously been condemned.

The houses are located at 314 S. 3rd St., 309 Maple Ave., and 2226 Buchanan St.

The move follows a June decision to demolish a boarding house on Chisholm Street which had been declared a nuisance following a 2014 killing there (subscription required). That building was taken down in July.
