UPDATE (9:50 p.m.): Now included are several reader submitted photos of storm damage in various parts of Sanford, especially in the area around Nash Street and Broadway Road near Harrington’s Marketplace, which announced Friday night on Facebook that storm damage would cause them to close for the next several weeks.

ORIGINAL STORY: A severe thunderstorm blew through Sanford around 4 p.m. Friday , and an hour later the extent of the damage was unknown.

Several trees in were strewn across roadways in the area around Carbonton Road and old Carbonton Road, and there were reports of high winds near the Riverbirch Shopping Center.

Old Carbonton Road between Carbonton and Wilkins was blocked by a downed tree.
This tree in a yard at the intersection of Carbonton Road and McLeod Drive appeared to have snapped off in the storm.
A third tree had been uprooted along Carbonton near the intersection with Stuart Drive
