(Update 12:09 p.m.: Britton will perform “New York State of Mind,” by Billy Joel tonight)

Sanford’s own Britton Buchanan will appear in the third and final episode of The Voice’s “Knockout Round” tonight and will face off against Team Alicia opponent Dallas Caroline, who, like Buchanan, turned three chairs during her blind audition.

Caroline chose Blake Shelton as her coach after the audition, but she lost her “Battle Round” duet with Spensha Baker. She found new life, however, when Alicia Keys “stole” her following the performance. The winner of tonight’s Knockout (or both if the loser is stolen or saved) will advance to the live shows, which run April 16 through May 22.

Sanford fans will have an opportunity to gather en masse and cheer on the local boy at a watch party at Hugger Mugger in downtown Sanford. Co-hosted by Sanford Mayor Chet Mann, the party will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 10 (the two-hour show runs from 8-10). Two 75-inch TVs (donated by Aaron’s Sales and Leasing) will be set up for viewers, and food will be on site provided by N.C. Wings & Things and Wildfire Pizza. Karma Boutique & Coffee Bar will also stay open late and will have #TeamBritton shirts available to buy.

As for speculation, this episode was pre-taped, and it’s a good sign that Buchanan is not going to be watching in Sanford (at least we don’t think he will be), as one contestant has already blurbed on Twitter that rehearsals for the live shows have begun. Also, Buchanan has been a fan favorite since the show began … it’s unlikely he’s gone after tonight. But what do we know.
