Brian Lovon Little was booked into the Moore County Detention Center just after midnight this morning and charged with first-degree murder and murder of an unborn child, according to SPPD Chief Bob Temme. He is being held without bond.

His arrest comes five days after Aiyonn Clarice Barrett was found dead in her car off an unpaved road near South Gaines Street around 8 p.m. Sunday in Southern Pines. Barrett’s child was at full term, according to a recent report by WRAL. Police at the time said they believed her death was not “random.”

Barrett, according to WRAL, started her senior year of high school at Richmond Senior High School before transferring to Southern Lee High School this year. She was scheduled to gradate in June, according to her family, and was alreay enrolled in community college.

SPPD did not report on the possible connection between Little and Barrett, but announced this morning that a full statement on the arrest would be released this afternoon. The Rant will update this story when more information is available.
