A 288-unit apartment complex which could include residential amenities such as a dog park, a car wash, and more has been proposed along Hawkins Avenue.
The Sanford-Lee County Technical Review Committee will consider the proposal at a meeting next week. According to documents attached to the meeting agenda, the apartments could also include outdoor games and a playground.
The meeting agenda’s attachment doesn’t specify where on Hawkins Avenue the proposed apartments would go, but a look at preliminary drawings suggests that a plot of land along the northbound lane near the intersection with McNeill Road is a potential match. If that is the proposed location, the complex would look out over the U.S. 421 bypass near where it crosses under Hawkins Avenue.
The northern end of the Hawkins Avenue corridor is experiencing commercial growth already, with the 43,000 square foot FirstHealth Medical Center nearing completion along Beechtree Drive, and a Fairfield Marriott hotel on tap along Amos Bridges Road near the Northview Food Lion.
