UPDATE (12:04 p.m.): Sources with the company that owns the complex tell the Rant that no one was hurt in the fire, which began around 3:30 a.m. Friday. The Sanford Fire Department apparently had the blaze out fairly quickly and is investigating the cause.  Residents of eight units were displaced, and the Red Cross was on scene by 5 a.m. to begin helping them find temporary living arrangements.

ORIGINAL STORY: A fire at the Oaks apartment complex off Amos Bridges Road in northern Sanford has damaged at least two buildings, the Rant has learned. It is currently unknown what caused the fire, whether anyone was injured, or how many residents were displaced.
