Hurricane Florence is going to close and cancel a lot of events this week. The first big announcement comes today from the Sanford Lions Club and Lee Regional Fair.
The Fair, which starts Tuesday, will forego the Big Rock Midway and all other rides because of expected high winds and heavy rains throughout the week. The fair made the announcement today on Facebook with an appropriate graphic of a crying baby. Officials say the Fair’s ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. will go as plannced, and all exhibit halls and the livestock barn will be open.
The other big Fair-related change is Britton Buchanan’s scheduled concert. Originally set for Thursday, the Voice runner-up will now perform at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the fairgrounds. “I’ll be closing out the pageant, and will start directly as the pageant ends,” Buchanan posted to social media today. “Hope all can make it.”
The Rant will include other Fair-related schedule changes in our Hurricane Florence round-up on Tuesday.
