One of Harnett County’s three early voting sites is a little more difficult to get to than it might otherwise be, thanks to a road closure on N.C. Highway 27.

Harnett County Elections Director Claire Jones said her department received an email from the county’s emergency services office stating that a portion of N.C. 27 will be closed through Nov. 15 for a bridge repair. Western Harnett High School is on N.C. 27, although not on the portion of the highway that is closed.
Jones said a detour route orders motorists to take Tim Currin Road to McDougald Road, to Buie Road, and back onto N.C. 27.
“We also offer early voting at our office in Lillington, so if voters in that area want to come here to cast a ballot early, that’s an option,” Jones said. The Harnett County Board of Elections office is located at 308 W. Duncan St. in Lillington. A third early voting site is located at the town of Erwin’s community building at 110 W.F. St.
Western Harnett High School is also the Election Day polling site for the Barbecue precinct of Harnett County, and voters from that precinct who choose to cast a ballot on Nov. 6 will be required to do so at the site.
Early voting in Harnett County runs from Oct. 17 to Nov. 3. Sites are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 28, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
