Well, not that Mike Stone, anyway.

The Pilot newspaper out of Moore County on Wednesday mistakenly used a picture of our former state House representative (and friend of the Rant) in a Facebook post about an article on judicial elections:

The confusion appears to stem from the fact that the article itself (subscription required, maybe) profiles another person named Michael Stone, a sitting Republican District Court Judge who is seeking an open Superior Court judgeship.

The hilarious connections don’t end there, though. It appears that Judge Michael Stone is the same person who in 2014 donated his old campaign signs to Sanford Mike Stone’s losing re-election campaign. Judge Stone, who was appointed in 2014 by then-Gov. Pat McCrory, apparently had sought a seat in the state House back in 2002.

In any case, while we’re completely unqualified here to have an opinion on who should be elected to Moore County’s Superior Court judgeship, it’s safe to say we’re breathing a sigh of relief that it won’t be our former state representative from Lee County. Can you imagine?
