Coach’s Neighborhood Grill — a sports-themed, burger-and-wings restaurant with eight locations thoughout North Carolina — will open its newest location in Sanford on (or around) Dec. 17, owner William Hodge told The Rant on Wednesday.

Coachs-Logo-469x400We first reported Coach’s arrival back in August, shortly after the closing of the short-lived Toot’s Restaurant, which occupied the building formerly occupied by Ham’s. Hodge originally said the new Coach’s location would open in November, but said furniture purchases and roof work have moved the opening back to December. The green and yellow Ham’s roof will become red in the coming weeks, and a new large sign will be up before the grand opening as well.

Between now and then, Hodge is accepting job applications between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays starting next week.

Hodge and his wife Stacy opened the original Coach’s 10 years ago, and the business has taken off. Both have ties to Sanford — and he was quick to secure the old Toot’s loction as soon as he heard it was available.

“I called and the landlord and made an inquiry,” he told The Rant in August. “We had an agreement in place pretty quick. They never had to even put up a ‘for lease’ sign.”
