Authorities have made an arrest in the Sunday night murder of 80-year-old Norma Smith Brown, Lee County Sheriff Tracy Carter told the Rant.
Kenneth Earl Allen, 37, of 207 Rascob Road – near the Glendon community in Moore County – was arrested around 1 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of first degree murder. Allen is also accused of a variety of charges related to the robbery at Brown’s home on Polly Lane. He was placed in the Lee County Jail without bond.
“It’s a good arrest, and we’re confident that we’ve solved this crime,” Carter said Wednesday morning.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Allen was located in a vacant lot at 306 McIver St., which is less than half a mile from where Brown’s car was located following the discovery of her body. The press release indicates that “a tip from the public” led them to Allen.
