Recent visitors to Sanford’s Sagebrush Steakhouse have been greeted with a sign stating that the restaurant – located on Dalrymple Street off South Horner Boulevard – is “currently closed.”
“Thank you for visiting Sagebrush Steakhouse of Sanford,” the sign reads. “Unfortunately this location is currently closed.”
There’s no word as to whether that means the closure is permanent. The location, which opened in the late 1990s, is still listed on the parent company’s website, and a phone call to the location rang without any answer or recorded message.
If Sagebrush is permanently closed, the location would seem ideal for another restaurant to occupy, given its proximity to a hotel and to the city’s main thoroughfare.

I bought some take out there one time and when I got home my bleu cheese had bugs in it.
It needs to stay closed. Food is terrible. I use to work there back in the 90’s when the food was good and the staff actually cared. Sanford needs a Texas Roadhouse.
Staff was never really the issue.
Yet another fine-dining establishment comes to an end. With the closure of Snappy’s Seafood and the truckstop on 421 the availability of upscale opportunities is even more severely limited. I haven’t even mentioned Larry’s Buffet or something. That’s why we can’t have anything nice.
I hate to be that guy but…
The truck stop on 421 was never “Upscale” Snappy was kind of as are a steak house.
“That’s why we can’t have anything nice.”
Why? You statement doesn’t actual indicate any reason. Learn to form a sentence dude.
This restaurant is permanently close they are going to be tearing down the building The corporate office stopped upgrading sagebrush in the early 2000’s. They did not give any employees any warning. Sage brush just put a lock on their doors and put up a sign not giving any of their employees any heads up.
This is the best thing they could do, their food was terrible!
Was back in town after 20 years and sad to see this restaurant is closed. It used to be the place to go when you were stationed at Ft. Bragg.
Great memories.
