The Deep River Northview 9U All-Star baseball team has already gone farther than any team from Sanford has ever gone in the Cal Ripken League.
But in order for them to go even further, they’ll need your help.
The boys went undefeated in regional play last week in Frederickburg, Va., to become the first team from Sanford to make the Cal Ripken League World Series at any level. They will represent the Southeast Region in the 9U World Series in Treasure Coast, Fla. from Aug. 3 through 10.
To fund another long-distance trip, the parents and players have set up several fundraisers. On Friday, they’ll host a chicken plate sale at their home field, Deep River Northview Optimist Park from 11 a.m. until they’re sold out, along with a “Family Fun Night” at the ballpark complete with an outdoor viewing of “The Sandlot.” (“You’re killing me, Smalls”) See the flier below for details.
If chicken tenders aren’t your thing, or you hate fun, you can always donate directly to the team through their GoFundMe page. Get updates about the team’s progress at its Facebook page.
