Lee County sheriff’s deputies have made an arrest in a robbery attempt on Aug. 6 in which they had been seeking help identifying a suspect.

James Eric Cordevant, 27, of 355 Dickens Road in Broadway was charged on Saturday with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Deputies said after the robbery that Cordevant allegedly went into a Circle K store at 3000 Jefferson Davis Highway in the Tramway area and demanded money from the clerk while holding a gun. Cordevant, however, is alleged to have fled the building and left the area in a gold car after the clerk screamed when she saw the gun.

After the robbery, deputies provided surveillance photos of the suspect and his car and asked the public for information. There was no information provided about how authorities identified Cordevant as their suspect.

Cordevant was placed in the Lee County Jail under $25,000 secured bond.
