A Deep River man has been charged with making a woman he had just met drive to a secluded area and then raping her, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Bryant Isaac Totten, 25, of 97 Deep River Road was charged Thursday with first degree kidnapping, first degree forcible sex offense, robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, and possessing a stolen vehicle.

The victim, a 20 year old from Raleigh, told investigators that she had come to Lee County to meet Totten after speaking with him online. When she arrived at his home around 3 a.m. Thursday, she said he forced her into her vehicle and made her drive to a secluded area before raping her. According to deputies, the victim was later able to escape from the vehicle somewhere in Harnett County and contact law enforcement.

Totten was placed in the Lee County Jail under $250,000 secured bond.
