UPDATE: Deputies have identified the dead man as Emmet John Ernenwein, 42, of Holly Springs.
ORIGINAL STORY: Sheriff’s deputies on Friday discovered a man dead inside his van along Edwards Road in southern Lee County, The Rant has learned.
Deputies didn’t identify the man, but said he was from Wake County and homeless. He had apparently been living in the van.
“He’d made it look like the van was broken down on the side of the road, and he was in the back,” Captain Jeff Johnson of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said on Saturday. “He’d been there for two or three days.”
According to Johnson, the man had apparently absconded from probation. Although deputies found no indication of foul play, Johnson said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Got any more info to this story? Because the man wasn’t homeless and his address is Holly Springs but in Harnett co., something doesn’t add up. I knew him personally and saw him daily.
I too would love to know. I knew E.E. for 7 years thru the tool business…. he was a good customer and one of my favorites. Honestly, he was one of my friends and I miss him.
I know for a fact he wasnt homeless also… why was he in Sanford?? That’s 30 minutes from his house!
His body was sent to Raleigh for an autopsy. Results could literally take years to be released. I know one of the local coroners who told me results can take a long time. However, I was told his death was “unusual ”
I do know this, he was bit by a tick in NY when visiting family in May. I’ve never seen him so sick(including the time he had the flu)
Anyone with information, find me…
