“Mother Nature III,” by Mickey Pace

Sanford’s Mickey Pace won best in show at the Sanford Brush and Palette Club’s annual art show for her clay sculpture, “Mother Nature III.”

The prize, along with several dozen others, was announced Friday at the show’s opening reception. Other award winners include Beverly Brookshire, who took the Mayor’s Choice Award for her painting “Sanford Farm House,” and Margaret Hubbard, who won Best Frame for “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.” For a full list of winners, as well as sponsors and patrons, click here.

Sanford Brush and Palette Club member Diana King told The Rant that it’s been several years since a clay sculpture won best in show.

The show, which features hundreds of unique works ranging from painting to sculpture and beyond, remains under way. Admission is free to the public and goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 24, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 26 at the Hales Center on McIver Street in downtown Sanford.
