There’s so much excitement in the Sanford air this week, with the Lee County Yellow Jackets set to play for the NCHSAA 3AA State Championship against Weddington. Game time is 7 p.m. Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh.
We’ve seen so many questions flying about on social media regarding the game that we decided to create a clearinghouse for it all here. Most of this information comes courtesy of Lee County High School’s booster club twitter account, which is doing an awesome job. They’ve also created this handy spectator guide for you to print out if you want all the info in one place.
If you know of anything we need to add, let us know in the comments.
Sendoff
There’s no pre-game parade planned. We’ll save that one for bringing home the trophy. But the team will leave the high school at 3:45 p.m. and make its way along Horner Boulevard to U.S. Highway 1. The boosters ask the town to line Horner to send the boys off in style.
On Saturday our team will be departing at 3:45. They will drive from the school north all the way down Horner Blvd. to get on US1. We are asking the community to line the street and cheer them on as they head to Raleigh. #JacketPride #JacketFamily

Tickets
There are several ways to get your hands on a ticket for the game.
- Buy directly from Lee County High School: Each school was allotted 1,000 tickets for pre-sale this week. Lee County has them available for purchase for just $14 Wednesday through Friday at the times below:
- If you’re a student or have a student in your family, this is the way to go, because the Lee County Booster Club is kicking in $4 for each student, meaning they’ll only cost $10.

- Buy online: The NCHSAA has partnered with GoFan to sell the tickets online, which you can get here. Buying online comes with a $15 charge as well as a $1.75 convenience fee (which is rather inconvenient if you ask us).
- Buy at the gate: Though there’s a lot of excitement for the game, it’s not going to be sold out. Carter-Finley Stadium will hold 57,000 people – enough for two Sanfords. Heck, even N.C. State can’t sell it out (an unnecessary dig at State fans. We apologize.) The downside of buying at the gate is that you’ll likely have to wait in a line. If you don’t mind that, you’re weird. But be our guest. Tickets are $15 at the gate.
Where to sit?
Lee County will be the visiting team. All Eastern Region teams are “visitors” this year. It rotates each year. As such, Lee County’s fans should enter through Gates 8 and 9 and sit on the east side of the field.
And be sure to follow the rules:

Parking
If you’ve been to PNC Arena or Carter-Finley for other events, you’ll know that it’s not uncommon to pay $40 for parking for Disney on Ice. Luckily, it’s not that bad this time – just $10. Lee County fans should park at Gate B, entering from Trinity Road. Overflow parking will be at Gate A.
The Rant will be there as well. Stop us and say hey. Unless you hate us. Then, just stop Billy and give him a piece of your mind.
There’s no cheering allowed in the press box, but know that what’s good for Sanford is good with us. Go Jackets. Good luck to Coach Steve Burdeau and his team.
