CCCC employee quarantined

A CCCC employee has self quarantined and is being tested for coronavirus after experiencing symptoms on Monday, according to an email sent to the college’s staff:

“Out of an abundance of caution, and effective immediately, any employee who was present in Keller Hall on Monday, March 16, should proceed with self quarantine for 14 days,” CCCC President Dr. Lisa Chapman wrote in the email sent just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. “An employee who was also in Keller Hall on March 16 self reported to be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms today. When we learn the results of testing, we will share with you.”

Chapman’s email indicates that there will be no access to Keller Hall, which is on the Sanford main campus behind the civic center, until further notice.

LCS to open child nutrition hubs

Lee County Schools will open child nutrition hubs at campuses across the county beginning on Friday. See flyers below for additional information in English and Spanish:

LCS Board Chairman Patrick Kelly said at Tuesday’s board meeting the district has a responsibility to look after all students.

“We are providing ways for students to continue their learning – whether it’s through online resources or reading a book on Facebook Live. We will be providing meals for children who would otherwise go without. We have adults checking in with children who are vulnerable and need a little extra attention to ensure their will being,” he said. “I am confident that our staff will continue to be selfless – as they are every single day – and work to make sure that our children are as cared for as possible.”
