Lee County Government announced today that it has closed all county parks and “additional facilities” to the public to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The county confirmed its first case hours earlier, and as of Friday, North Carolina has 167 reported positive tests.

Kiwanis Family Park’s walking trails will remain open to the public. Parks and Rec has canceled its annual “Eggs-perience” Easter egg hunt that was scheduled for April 4. Also, the McSwain Center is now closed to the public until further notice.

According public relations manager Jamie Brown, county employees will continue to report to work and will be available to the public by phone and email from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Beginning next week (Monday), county tax office employees will be available to the public remotely:

  • Appraisal: (919) 718-4660
  • Collections: (919) 718-4662
  • Listings: (919) 718-4661
  • Email: tax@leecountync.gov). 
  • Tax payments can be made by mail, online or left in the drop box located outside at 106 Hillcrest Drive in Sanford.

The Board of Equalization and Review will hold a convening meeting as required by law on April 6. The BOER will not hold any hearings on April 6.  The deadline to file a real property assessment appeal remains April 17.
