The Lee County Health Department announced Monday afternoon that 11 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed over the Memorial Day weekend, bringing the county’s total to 370.
Three new cases were confirmed on Saturday and Sunday, and five on Monday. The number who have recovered remained at 196 on Monday. There have been three COVID-related deaths in Lee County.
The county only discloses demographic information – age range and gender – of those who have tested positive. Due to the holiday weekend, however, that information will next be provided on Wednesday, county officials indicated.
Significantly, the rate of new cases in Lee County has slowed significantly. From April 15 to April 30, the number of new cases doubled every four to seven days. It’s taken nearly the entire month of May for the number of cases to almost double.
