A woman was killed and her husband is being treated after a house fire on West Courtland Drive Tuesday night, city police reported.
Donna Hill Walser, who turned 67 on Tuesday, was located inside the house after firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. Police reported that they responded to the home at 10:15 p.m.
Walser’s husband Henry, 68, was outside the home when responders arrived, and police said neighbors had been able to get him out. Henry Walser was taken to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill for treatment.
Detectives are working with the Sanford Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire.
