No one was hurt in a Thursday afternoon wreck in east Sanford involving a school bus.
The wreck occurred around 3:05 p.m. at the intersection of Seventh Street and Oakwood Avenue when the driver of the bus, 27-year-old Cameron Ruth McNeill of Sanford ran a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle driven by Joshua Sirls, 33, of Bear Creek.
A Sanford Police Department report indicates McNeill told officers at the scene that she had her eye on a child walking nearby and missed the sign. After the collision, the bus continued toward and struck a house on the corner. Damage to the house was estimated at $4,000. Damage to the school bus was estimated at $3,500, and damage to Sirls’ vehicle was estimated at $6,000. Neither vehicle was drivable after the wreck, according to the report.
There were three juvenile students from Bragg Street Academy on the bus at the time of the crash. McNeill was given a ticket for a stop sign violation.
