Sanford police charged a man suspected in a February domestic assault that left the victim with broken bones, according to a press release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Vernon Eugene Spinks, 50, of Sanford faces charges of assault inflicting serious injury, breaking and entering, larceny, injury to personal property, domestic criminal trespassing, violation of a protective order, witness intimidation, and false imprisonment

Spinks was the suspect in a Feb. 2 incident in which officers responded to a call at a home on Linden Avenue and found a victim suffering from bruises and fractured bones, according to police, who said he allegedly fled the scene when they arrived.

Police apprehended Spinks on Monday during the course of a traffic stop. He was placed in the Lee County Jail without bond.
