WRAL’s Tech Wire is reporting that biotech firm Abzena will bring more than 300 jobs to Sanford at an average annual pay of $63,000.
The company is said to be making a tax base investment of roughly $213 million with the project, in exchange for $7 million in state incentives. Additionally, the company could receive another roughly $11 million in incentives from Sanford and Lee County if hiring and investment targets are met.
Abzena is apparently the company discussed as “Project Star” in recent months, and will locate in the second 117,000 square foot shell building that’s under construction at the Central Carolina Enterprise Park. The first shell building, which is immediately adjacent to what will become the Abzena facility, is set to be the new home for Audentes Therapeutics, which announced it was coming to Sanford in February of 2020.
Thank you SAGA, Sanford Mayor Mann and Council Members and Lee County Commissioners
Time to start planning for the new Deep River Middle School.
Simply OUTSTANDING! The business development of Sanford is like a rocket ship right now; with all the other life-sciences industries relocating to Sanford our city is going to quickly change. I really am hoping that residential development is also taking place in concert with the booming life-science industry coming into Sanford.
It would be nice if the people actually lived in Lee County instead of working here and living in Chatham, Wake, Orange, Durham Counties.
