The Sanford Spinners lost 4-2 in Raleigh to the Oak City Gliders on Sunday night, bringing their record to 5-8.
Head Coach Jeremy Palme said too many errors (four) and too many runners left on base (13) accounted for the loss. The Spinners challenged in the ninth, twice loading the bases and scoring once on a sacrifice fly, but lost after two consecutive batters made outs.
Spinners starting pitcher Jerrett Orbin went five innings, allowing five hits and three runs, only one of them earned. He struck out three and walked two. Reliever Elliot Mann went three innings, giving up one earned run with two strikeouts and two walks.
At the plate, first baseman Nick Fakouri went three for three with a double, a walk, and a run batted in. Shortstop Bryson Horney was two for five.
The Spinners take on the Gliders 7 p.m. today (Monday, June 28) at Tramway Park in Sanford. For the Spinners full schedule, click here.
