Sanford police are investigating a shooting that left a 19-year-old dead Thursday night.
Officers responded to 100 Scarlet Oak Lane in the Autumn Oaks apartment complex off Woodland Avenue around 10 p.m. Thursday and found Chandler Tyree Cotton, 19, on the breezeway of the apartment building suffering from a gunshot wound.
Cotton was taken to Central Carolina Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
