Lee County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a 26-year-old Sanford man with threatening mass violence toward an area school.

Darrell N. Hill of Lightwood Road in Sanford was charged Friday with making threats of mass violence on an educational property. According to a press release, Hill is accused of “making threats electronically on a Lee County school” on Nov. 1.

Further information – which school the threat was made toward, whether the threat was made over social media or via some other form of electronic communication, the credibility of the alleged threat, and whether students were ever at risk – was not immediately available.

Hill was placed in the Lee County Jail under $10,000 secured bond.
