The Sanford man suspected in the homicide of his wife and abduction of their 3-year-old daughter on Wednesday was arrested — and the child was recovered — in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, roughly eight hours away.

Brent James Bockes, 50, was apprehended by Rutherford County (Tenn.) deputies at about 9 p.m. Wednesday night and charged with first degree murder of his wife, Deana Michelle (Missy) Bockes, whose body was found in their home at 3927 Lee Avenue in Sanford earlier Wednesday after Sanford Police officers responded to a wellness check at the address. An Amber Alert was issued for their daughter, Riley Harper Bockes, asking the public to be on the lookout for a burgundy Toyota.

According to Sanford Police, Tennessee deputies located a stolen vehicle that was involved in an accident on I-24 in Murfreesboro. Brent Bockes reportedly fled from the accident with Riley. WSMV in Nashville reported that a K-9 unit was used to track down Bockes, who fled to a Select Inn Motel in Murfreesboro. Bockes was taken into custody as he was coming down a stairwell while holding his daughter.

Riley Bockes was found and reported to be physically unharmed.

In addition to the first degree murder charge, Brent Bockes has been charged with robbery and larceny of a motor vehicle. Bockes was arrested back in March in Davidson County and charged with assault on a female, strangulation and misdemeanor child abuse. He is currently being held in Tennessee.
