Two inmates at the Lee County Jail have been charged with possessing heroin and other drugs, authorities reported Monday.

Bobby Paul Wade, 46, and Timothy Monroe Mabe, 47, were both charged with possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, felony possession of heroin, simple possession of a schedule III controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Narcotics agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the jail’s male dormitory on Jan. 3 and reportedly discovered small amounts of heroin and suboxone in a cell shared by the two men.

Wade has been in the jail since December on a charged of possession of a firearm by a felon. Mabe has been in the jail since November on multiple charges, including larceny, possession of stolen goods, assault, and more.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
