The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving a shooting that occurred on February 27.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, deputies responded around 1:35 a.m. on that date to the woods off U.S. 1 near the Colon Road exit and found a white Kia with two women inside, aged 20 and 28. One of them had been shot and taken to Central Carolina Hospital for treatment prior to the arrival of deputies on the scene.

The name and status of the victim was not disclosed, and it was unclear why 10 days passed before the incident was reported publicly.

The press release indicates that anyone who believes they may have information about the incident – particularly anyone who traveled on U.S. 1 between Spring Lane and Farrell Road between midnight and 2 a.m. on February 27 – should call (919) 775-5531 or (919) 718-4577. A reward is offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case, which remains under investigation.
