Lee County sheriff’s deputies are seeking a suspect who shot and injured a pregnant woman during what is being called a “road rage incident” early Tuesday morning.
A patrol deputy reported trying to conduct a traffic stop on a red truck traveling at a high rate of speed around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday. The truck eventually stopped at the Central Carolina Hospital Emergency Room, where the driver told the deputy that a pregnant woman inside the vehicle had been shot while they were on N.C. Highway 87 near the Carolina Trace Fire Department.
The driver told deputies that the suspect drove through the back of the Circle K on 87 and began following as they headed south on the highway. The suspect then fired into the passenger side of the vehicle.
The victim, 26-year-old Holly Bissette, was shot in the arm and the bullet entered her abdomen. She was taken to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, where she was treated and released.
The only description of the suspect vehicle was that it was possibly gray, although a photo was included with the press release.

Deputies said anyone with information about the shooting, particularly anyone who may have been near the intersection of N.C. 87 and Commerce Drive around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, call the Sheriff’s Office at (919) 775-5531 or (919) 718-4577.
Investigators said they don’t believe the incident is related to any previous ongoing investigations.
