A body found at the Gaster’s Creek sewer lift station on Thursday has been identified, Sanford police said Friday morning.

Officers said 30-year-old Christian Jerome Carnegie was the person located at the station at 4016 Lee Avenue. Carnegie was first located around 10:42 a.m. Thursday by a city public works employee, who called police.

Police said Friday that the cause of death had not been determined, but that an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner was pending. The investigation is ongoing.
