Lee County native and Nashville songwriter Taylor Phillips scored another number one hit this week, with “Like I Love Country Music,” performed by country star Kane Brown, hitting the top of the country charts.
Phillips wrote the song with Brown, Matthew McGinn, and Jordan Schmidt.
Sanford’s Tourism Development Authority announced the news Tuesday, noting that it’s his fourth number one hit. Past chart toppers include Luke Combs’ “Hurricane,” and “Homesick” and “Good as You,” each performed by Brown. “Like I Love Country Music” has been at the top of country music charts in Canada for four weeks.
In total, Phillips has writing credits on more than 100 songs recorded by various artists.
Phillips hosts an annual concert featuring multiple country music stars in Sanford each December to raise money for suicide prevention and awareness. We’ll post information about the 2022 event when it is available.
Congregations, your songs are wonderful. Hope to be able to see you in December.
