A joint investigation between the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms culminated last month in the arrest of 12 people on various drug charges.
Dubbed “Operation Eagle Eye,” the investigation largely consisted of undercover drug agents making buys from various suspects, according to interim Sheriff Brian Estes.
The suspects arrested were:
*James Marshall McLean Jr., who was charged with trafficking opium or heroin, sale and delivery of heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $225,000 secured bond.
*Shajuana Monique Cole, 31, who was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, sale and delivery of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed under $30,000 secured bond.
*Roger Lee Birt McCutchen, who was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, two counts of selling heroin, two counts of sale and delivery of heroin, two counts of maintaining a place for the sale of a controlled substance, two counts of sale and delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $10,000 secured bond.
*Brandon Joseph Cash, 40, who was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, sale and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $100,000 secured bond.
*Aaron Javaughn Jackson, 30, who was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, two counts of sale and delivery of heroin, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $150,000 secured bond.
*Brianna Marie Smith, 22, who was charged with sale and delivery of heroin and possession of heroin. She was jailed under $5,000 secured bond.
*Rodney Andre Donell Hooker, 30, who was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, sale and delivery of heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sale and delivery of cocaine, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $50,000 secured bond.
*Rodriguez Antonio Marshall, 40, who was charged with sale and delivery of cocaine, sale and delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $10,000 secured bond.
*Ralph McDonald Reed, 48, who was charged with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to dell and deliver a schedule I controlled substance, sale and delivery of a schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a place for the sale of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under $100,000 secured bond.
*Ricky Brown Jr., who was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, two counts of sale and delivery of, two counts of sale and distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a park, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was jailed under $150,000 secured bond.
The operation also included the execution of a search warrant on Sept. 1 at 415 Hickory Ave. in Sanford. During the search, agents arrested the homeowner, 69-year-old Harvey Ferguson, on charges of maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, as well as Demetrius Lamont Keels, 44, on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule I controlled substance, two counts of sale and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of cocaine, three counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ferguson was jailed on $5,000 secured bond; Keels received $40,000 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office also has as a result of the investigation outstanding warrants for Brandon Jerome Griffin, 35, for various alleged offenses involving the distribution of heroin and fentanyl. Anyone with information about Griffin’s location is asked to call (919) 718-4577.
