Sanford police charged a man with murder Monday in connection with a stabbing death the day before.
Officers responded to the intersection of Cherry and Third streets around 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a well being check on a man who was on the ground. That man, 29-year-old Jordan Jirelle Briscoe, was suffering from “at least one stab wound,” police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 2:30 a.m. Monday, police arrested Darius Jamel Cameron, 31, of Happy Lane in Sanford on one count of murder. A press release said “further investigation” led them to Cameron, but didn’t provide further details.
Cameron was placed in the Lee County Jail without bond.
This is very sad to see. I don’t know what happened for this young man to have HAD to hurt someone this way but all that I know is that I’ve never seen or heard of Mr. Cameron to do anything like this to anyone.
I hate this happened to both men. We’re losing to many decent people to undesirable situations. Respect to both families. God please keep us all strong in Yeshua name.
he stabbed a guy in harnett multiple times a couple years ago and was not charged
This is so sad that a man’s life had to be taken. It was wrong. Even if there was a disagreement or something, did it have to end in a cowardly act! Then you leave the scene to be found like you’re innocent. That was someone’s friend, son, brother. Will a voice be heard in Sanford that will stand up for those who have been killed at the hands of others. How can the city show unjust to those that need justice. I don’t care what happened, a life did not have to be robbed so early in life. I praying Sanford law and legal system does not keep ignoring or turning away from our men, women and children being violently attacked. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family of Mr. Jordan.
May peace and blessings be upon the world. So young,29.And his life gone just like that.
