From FirstHealth of the Carolinas

Pinehurst Surgical Clinic provider Michelle deBlaquiere started seeing patients at FirstHealth OB/GYN in Sanford in early January.

deBlaquiere received her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Vanderbilt University before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Missouri Kansas City, and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as obesity medicine.

Before joining FirstHealth and Pinehurst Surgical Clinic, she served as chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also taught as an associate professor.

deBlaquiere said establishing relationships with her patients is one reason she pursued a career in health care.

“One of my favorite things about medicine is getting to help people be their best and not just treating an illness,” she said. “I love OB/GYN because you get to form relationships with women and help guide them through events in life.”

Originally from Alabama, deBlaquiere has practiced in North Carolina since 2012 and was drawn to the state for its warm weather, beaches and mountains. When not caring for patients, she enjoys reading and growing plants. She also enjoys spending time with her two daughters and their dog, Bentley.
